SAN
Styrene Acrylonitrile sheets (SAN Sheets)
Styrene acrylonitrile is a copolymer plastic consisting of styrene and acrylonitrile. It is commonly known as SAN and is widely used in place of polystyrene owing to its greater thermal resistance. The Acrylonitrile content not only improves mechanical properties and chemical resistance, but also adds a blue tint to the normally transparent plastic.
SAN sheets combines the formability, dimensional stability, density and bright clear transparency of polystyrene with heat resistance, strength & stiffness of acrylonitrile. These extruded copolymer sheets are highly resistant to water absorption and chemical products.
Ranges of SAN Sheets
- Solid SAN sheet
- SAN Antiglare sheet (AG Sheet)
- SAN Prismatic sheet
Applications of SAN Sheet
- Industrial (door) glazing because of its Light weight property saves energy where electric motors are used to control door opening
- Food storage containers, kitchenware, packaging material, and plastic optical fibers
- Covers for office equipment
- Screen printing
- Advertising signs
- Fittings for shops and exhibitions
- Displays
- Flat or curved shower screens
- Room dividers/partitions
Features of SAN sheets
- Light weight: The weight of a SAN sheet is less when compared to Polycarbonate & Acrylic sheets
- Transparency: The light transmission of SAN sheet is 86 to 90%(clear)
- High resistance ot moisture and chemical absorption
- Resistant to most fats, dilute acid solutions, oils and common bleaching agents
- High degree of formability both vacuum and thermal
- High degree of dimensional stability
- Food safe
